Festival in Varbovo

A small group of BYF members and volunteers from Sofia, including myself, just had another trip. This time we went to Varbovo, a small village located in the municipality of Chuprene (in Vidin Province, northwestern Bulgaria).

We went there to participate and colaborate in the "7th Meeting of the Generations" and the "1st Entertainment Games - Varbovo 2018"". Both of them organised by Botev Varbovo, a local association, on September 23.

These events brought together the current inhabitants of the village as well as many of its former neighbours who are now living elsewhere in Bulgaria or even abroad.

During the morning and the afternoon the Entertaniment Games were held in the old school backyard. They consisted on a bunch of sports and outdoor games such football, sacks races or throwing straw-bales. Some of these activities were for adults, others for children, and others for both. The Bulgarian Youth Forum also included a small throwing rings game.

On the evening there was the proper 7th Meeting of the Generations. It was a big supper for all locals and guests. A big Balkanic-styled barbeque accompanied with drinks and live music.

It was a great experience that all of us enjoyed.
